Incendium Radical Library is a collectively run community library and reading room in central Footscray, with a focus on radical politics and critical literature.
IRL is open once a week on Sundays 12.00pm-6.00pm, and during Hotshots cafe nights and skillshares.
If you can’t physically get to the library, you can browse our online catalogue and email us to borrow books via post.
Please also contact us if you would like to organise a reading group, workshop, discussion, literary event, or just drop by when we’re open to borrow, study, write, draw, or just relax in a quiet space 🙂
IRL is located upstairs in Hotshots Social Centre, 20 Buckley St, Footscray, Victoria.
The library is not wheelchair accessible. There are two flights of stairs up one storey to access the space.
We acknowledge that IRL is situated on the land of the Wurundjeri & Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation. We stand on this land as beneficiaries of an uncompensated and unreconciled dispossession which began over 200 years ago and continues today. We would like to reflect that within acknowledgement there should be action. How do we act in solidarity with first nations peoples? How do we act against the economic and social systems which reinforce racism, oppression and subjugation?
